Pinecroft baptist Church was started as a mission of Queensborough Baptist Church. A tent revival was held between McCutchen Avenue and Amelia Avenue in August 1947.
Land was purchased on the corner of Jewella Road and Millard Street and beginning in April 1948 a small auditorium was built. We now meet for prayer meeting each Wednesday in that structure which originally faced Jewella. Sunday school rooms were later added to the auditorium. Sunday school classes began meeting in July 1949 with 49 present the first Sunday. Additional families were reached when a sound truck went through the neighborhood inviting children to VBS.
On December 30, 1951 Pinecroft Baptist Church was constructed into a New Testament church. There were 164 charter members. There are four charter members still in our church: Neil Brasfield, Jeannett Jeter, Bertha Roberts and Wanda Thomas.
An educational building was built in 1952. This building is now used by the youth, the Sunshine class and the Quilters. The nursery building was built in 1958.
During the 1950s, under the leadership of Bro Jerry Schmucker, the church outgrew the small auditorium and a new one was built. A dedication service was held on August 5, 1962. Sunday school attendance was 663 on Dedication Sunday and the temperature reached 105 degrees!
To accommodate the continued growth of the church, a second floor was added to the nursery building in 1973 and the adult educational building and gym were completed in 1978. Restrooms were added to the auditorium in 2002 with the funds being raised even before a loan could be secured.
